Rev. Bob Herring—born in St. Louis MO, the only child of Mildred and Elmer Herring (both deceased); attended Lutheran Grade School and High School in St. Louis; also attended St. Louis University, Concordia College, Ann Arbor MI (where he graduated with an AA degree), Concordia Senor College, Fort Wayne IN (where he graduated with a BA degree), and received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1978.
Serving Grace since 2014
His years of service as a pastor: Trinity, Dillsboro IN (1978-1983); Calvary, Plymouth IN (1983-1992); Grace, Muncie IN (1992-1996); Bethel, Fort Smith AR (1996-2007), Christ the King, Ringwood NJ (2007-2014) and Grace, Holiday Island (2014-present). In addition to being Pastor at Grace he is currently serving as Circuit Visitor for the Fayetteville Circuit. He has served as a Circuit Visitor for many years both in the Indiana and Mid-South Districts and he served as a Vice-President of the Mid-South District (2006-2007).
Barbara Herring—born in Davenport IA, her parents are Charles and Mary Brayton of Bettendorf IA (both deceased), she has two sisters and one brother. Her work career included stops in Bettendorf IA, Evansville IN, Fort Smith AR, and most recently in Lincoln NE where she worked for the University of Nebraska, Lincoln as Senior Budget Analyst for the College of Arts and Sciences. Barbara has been very active in her congregations serving in various capacities and roles for the church.
The Herrings were married in 2014.
Pastor Herring had two children: Matthew, born in 1979 and called to his heavenly home in 1985, and Leann, born in 1984 and called to her heavenly home in 1989. His former wife was called to her heavenly home in 2012.
Barbara’s former husband was called to his heavenly home in 2009 and they were not blessed with children.
The Herring’s interests include traveling, some sports (more watching than participating), and serving their Lord.
